Adding a save button to her blog turned readers into pinners
A food blogger drove decent Pinterest traffic but it was a one-way street — visitors read and left, and her pins only spread when she made new ones herself. Her monthly saves sat around 110.
We added a hover 'Save' button to every recipe image on her site and a Pinterest widget at the end of posts, with pre-filled descriptions and keywords baked in.
Now readers who arrived from Google or anywhere else could pin her images back to Pinterest in one click — with optimized text already attached. Over two months her saves rose to about 260 a month, much of it from visitors doing the distribution for her.
Takeaway: Don't make pinning your job alone. A save button on your site turns every reader into a distributor, with your keywords pre-loaded so the new pins still rank.
