A title rewrite moved CTR from 4.1% to 8.9% with no rank change
We ran a title-only test on a page parked at position 6 for a 5,500-vol query.
— Position before and after: 6 (unchanged)
— Old title CTR: ▇▇ 4.1%
— New title CTR: ▇▇▇▇ 8.9%
— Expected CTR at position 6 on the curve: ~7%
The old title led with the brand. The new one front-loaded the query plus a number ('7 metrics'). We changed nothing else and held it for 28 days against the prior 28.
Incremental clicks: roughly 215/mo from one line of text.
So what: you can beat the click-through curve without moving rank. Front-load the query, add a concrete number, cut the brand prefix.
Benchmark of the week: titles leading with a number outperformed brand-first titles by 2.1x CTR at equal position across 300 tests.
