A file-naming standard saved a team ~5 hours/week of "which version is final?"
A 4-person UGC team had folders full of final_FINAL_v3_real.mp4. We timed the chaos: about 5 hours a week lost hunting for the right cut and re-sending wrong files to clients.
We enforced one naming convention:
— [client]_[concept]_[aspect]_[v##]_[status]
— Status = WIP / REVIEW / APPROVED / DELIVERED
— APPROVED files only live in one "Master" folder; nothing else does
Example: acme_problemsolution_9x16_v04_APPROVED.mp4
After two weeks, wrong-file sends dropped to near zero and the search time vanished. Nobody guesses; the filename is the source of truth.
Save the convention. Standardize names, reclaim the hours.
