Writing 12 short summaries doubled one page's clicks
A reader noticed Google was showing her pages, but few people clicked. The problem: under each search result, Google showed a messy chopped-up sentence.
That snippet is the 'meta description', a short summary you write that appears under your title in search results. She had left them blank, so Google guessed.
What she did over a weekend:
— Installed a free SEO plugin (SEO means helping search engines understand your site).
— Wrote a clear 1-sentence summary for her 12 most-visited pages.
— Each ended with a small reason to click, like 'with a printable checklist'.
For her top page, clicks from search roughly doubled, with no change in ranking.
In plain words: the little summary under your title is a free advert, so write it yourself instead of leaving it blank.
