Myth: "Shared hosting is fine for transactional email"
A SaaS sent password resets from its shared host. Deliverability quietly fell to 61%. Cause: a spammer three accounts over on the same shared IP got the whole /24 listed on Spamhaus. The customer did nothing wrong and had zero control over the neighbor. Moving sending to a dedicated IP recovered inbox placement to 97% in 72 hours — a problem they paid to inherit.
Follow the money: cramming 200 strangers onto one IP is the host's savings and your reputation.
Reality: on shared hosting, your sender reputation belongs to your worst neighbor.
