Flipping the hook to a negative doubled saves
Here's a story about a fitness creator stuck at 18K views per video. His hook was upbeat: "Here are 3 exercises that grow your shoulders." Clean, but it slid right off people. Save rate was 1.1%.
The thing about "here are 3 tips" is the brain has heard it 10,000 times — it pattern-matches to skip. So we inverted it into a warning: "Stop doing lateral raises like this — you're growing your traps instead."
And then the same three exercises landed differently. The viewer felt personally called out, so they watched to check if they were guilty.
The result: saves climbed from 1.1% to 2.7%, and the video hit 96K views.
The lesson: a problem the viewer might already have beats a benefit they have to imagine.
