The one page that made more than the other 140 combined
Month 1: home-improvement site, 140 articles, doing $900/month across the whole thing. Respectable but flat.
While digging through analytics in Month 4, I found one outlier: a single page on 'ceiling fan downrod length by ceiling height' — a boring sizing-chart post — was pulling 30% of all revenue. People landed, used the chart, then bought a fan through my link.
The turn: I went looking for more 'calculator-shaped' intent. Built sizing guides, BTU calculators for the niche, a 'what size X for Y room' template, and reused the chart format across 12 new posts.
The setback: 7 of the 12 flopped — no search volume, dead on arrival. Sizing intent doesn't exist for everything.
But the 5 that hit, hit hard. Month 8: revenue $900 → $1,640, and four of my top five earning pages were now these chart posts.
The takeaway: dig into which page actually makes the money, not which gets the traffic. My winner wasn't a review — it was a tool disguised as an article. I'd have never planned it; the data found it for me.
