The blog with 80k visits and almost no revenue
A project-management tool had a content engine that worked too well at one job. Their blog pulled 80,000 monthly visits. Revenue attributed to it: nearly nothing.
The clue was a traffic-vs-revenue gap in the landing-page report. Blog readers had a 0.3% rate of ever reaching a product page, versus 9% for the rest of the site. The articles were sealed islands — no internal path out.
They added a contextual 'related feature' card mid-article on their 15 top posts.
Blog-to-product page rate went from 0.3% to 5.1%, and assisted conversions from content tripled in two months. The traffic was always there; the bridge wasn't.
Lesson: traffic that can't reach the product isn't an audience, it's a waiting room.
