Rewriting one paragraph to win a featured spot
Today's lesson: a featured snippet — the boxed answer that sits at the very top of search, above the normal results — gets pulled from a page that answers in a clean, short way.
Real example: a money blog ranked 4th for "what is an emergency fund" but never got the box. Their answer was hidden three paragraphs deep.
What the writer did:
1. Put the question as a heading near the top.
2. Answered in one tidy 40-word sentence right below it.
3. Followed with a short list of what to include.
Think of it like answering a kid's question: say the simple version first, details after.
Result: within 3 weeks the page took the featured snippet and its clicks jumped 31%, even though its rank barely changed.
Try this: find a page that ranks 2nd to 5th and add a 40-word direct answer near the top. 🎓
