A team replied to every comment within 15 minutes. Reach per post rose 1.9x.

The question: does early comment velocity feed the algorithm, or is it just politeness?

The case: a fintech content team ran a structured test over 8 weeks. For half their posts (randomly assigned), the author replied to every comment within 15 minutes of publishing for the first hour; the control half got replies whenever convenient. Sample: 52 posts, 26 per arm.

Three findings:
— Treated posts averaged 1.9x the reach of control posts.
— The effect concentrated in posts that got 3+ comments in the first 15 minutes — below that threshold, no difference appeared.
— Author replies counted: each reply seemed to re-surface the post to the commenter's network, extending the 'golden hour'.

Limitations: randomization was per-post not per-week, so weekday effects may leak. Small sample, treat as directional.

What it means for B2B: the first 15 minutes are a distribution lever, not a courtesy — but only if a post clears a minimum comment threshold to begin with.

Bottom line: fast replies amplified posts that already had early traction; they didn't rescue flat ones.
