Q: We have 400 blog posts but half get no traffic. Is internal linking really worth the effort to fix that?
Short answer: yes, and it's often the fastest win on a big site. A travel blog I looked at had 180 orphan posts (pages with zero internal links pointing to them). They weren't broken, just invisible to crawlers as anything important.
The team added 3-5 contextual internal links to each orphan from relevant high-traffic posts. No new content, no new pages.
Result in 9 weeks: 61 of those orphans started ranking on page 1 for at least one keyword, and section impressions rose 47% in Search Console. Average position across the batch improved by 6 spots.
In practice: links signal which pages matter. Orphans tell Google "ignore me."
