Buffer vs native Threads scheduling: 30-day split test
Tested on one real account for 30 days, alternating days between Buffer's Threads queue and the native scheduler inside the Threads app.
Setup: same 14 posts each, posted 9am ET.
— Buffer posts averaged 41% lower reach than native on identical copy
— The gap vanished on text-only posts; it only showed up when a link was in the first line
— Native had zero failed publishes; Buffer dropped 2 of 14 silently (no error, no post)
Standout feature: Buffer's queue view is genuinely clean. Annoying limitation: it strips nothing, but Threads clearly down-weights its API publishes when a link sits up top.
Verdict: for link-in-first-line posts, schedule native. Buffer: Wait until that reach gap closes. Free tier covers 1 channel, paid starts at 6 dollars.
