Google's own position: most sites should never touch disavow
The myth: every serious site needs a disavow file as basic hygiene.
Reality: Google's documentation and its own engineers have repeatedly said the disavow tool is an advanced feature, and the vast majority of sites should not use it. The tool's help page itself warns it can harm your performance if used incorrectly.
Actually, read who's contradicting Google here. It's not Search. It's the vendors selling the file as a deliverable.
When the platform that built the tool tells you not to use it, and the people selling a service tell you that you must — follow the one with no invoice attached.
Reality check: Google calls disavow advanced and rarely needed. Believe the source over the salesman.
