A mention and a link are not the same thing

A mention and a link are not the same thing

Getting quoted is exciting. But there are two outcomes, and beginners often confuse them.

A "mention" is when the article names you or your company in text. A "link" is when your name is clickable and points to your website.

Think of it like a billboard. A mention says your name out loud. A link is the road sign that actually drives people to your door.

Here's how to nudge toward the better one:

— 1. Always include your website plainly in your pitch.
— 2. Add a short reason to link: "readers can see the full data on our site."
— 3. Stay polite — the reporter decides, not you.

Many articles only mention. That's still useful for trust and future searches, but a link is the prize worth gently asking for.

Try this today: check one place you were mentioned and see whether it's actually a clickable link.
