Products with 1,000-5,000 reviews converted 1.8x better than 50k+ review products
Social proof has a saturation curve. Counterintuitively, the mega-reviewed market leaders convert worse for affiliates.
In-window conversion by review count (n=9,400 clicks):
— Under 200 reviews: ▇▇ 2.1%
— 1,000-5,000: ▇▇▇▇▇ 5.4%
— 50,000+: ▇▇▇ 3.0%
The under-200 group lacks trust; the 50k+ group is so well-known buyers comparison-shop elsewhere and leave your window. The 1-5k band is 'trusted but not commoditized.'
So what: When picking which ASIN to feature, the sweet spot is mid-review-count products with strong ratings, not the obvious bestseller everyone already links.
