The 'data-nosnippet' move competitors use against themselves
07:55 UTC — We're hearing about teams accidentally tanking their own answer boxes with
data-nosnippet
or an overly tight
max-snippet
meta left over from a privacy or paywall config. Google honors it silently — no error, no warning, the box just never appears even at position 1.
Why it matters: if you rank top-three for a clean question query and have never earned the box, grep your template for nosnippet attributes and meta robots before you blame content. One agency found a global
max-snippet:50
tag killing every snippet site-wide.
Reportedly a frequent invisible cause. Check the markup before the words. Watching this.
