Heard this week: a source tells us one of the buzzy new managed platforms making the rounds is burning hard on aggressive intro pricing that doesn't cover its own egress bills. The deck promises profitability 'at scale,' which is founder for 'not yet.'
What it means for you: the lifetime-ish deals and below-cost first-year pricing are customer-acquisition theater. The host either raises a bridge round or raises your renewal, and you find out which around month 14.
Unconfirmed, but we hear the last round was a down one.
Watch this: if a host's pricing feels too good, ask who's eating the difference. Right now it's the cap table.
