The liquidity ladder
How fast a name turns to cash, by extension, roughly:
— .com: the only globally liquid one; near-cash for quality names.
— .co / .io / .ai: liquid inside their niches (startups, tech, AI) but thin outside.
— ccTLDs (.de, .co.uk, .com.au): liquid only to in-country end-users.
— Most new gTLDs: low liquidity, treat as end-user lottery tickets.
📌 Pick of the day: if you need predictable turnover, weight the portfolio toward .com and the 2-3 niche extensions you actually understand.
Why it matters: a 'great' name in an illiquid TLD can sit for years. Liquidity is a feature you pay for upfront.
