— Layer 'recommended', 'useful', 'further reading' as alternates
— Pull the top 100 results into a sheet
— Status-check each: drop 404s and parked domains
— Check last-modified or visible date: drop pages untouched 3+ years
— Confirm the page actually accepts outbound links (not all do)
— Match each survivor to the asset that fits its theme
Pages updated in the last 12 months reply at 3.6x the rate of stale ones — the maintainer is still there.
