GoDaddy Auctions and NameJet get all the attention. That's exactly why the best deals aren't there.
Sources worth developing:
1. Expired domain registrar backorder services in smaller markets — NameSilo, Dynadot, and regional registrars often have expiring inventory that never makes it to major auctions.
2. Private outreach — use domain name search tools to identify parked domains in your target niches. Many are owned by individuals who forgot they registered them. Cold email with a fair offer converts at low percentages but the deals are often 10x better.
3. Flippa's low-traffic listings — domains with minor development (a few articles, some backlinks) listed at $200-$500 can be rebranded or their backlink profile used to jumpstart a new project.
4. Estate sales and business liquidations — when businesses shut down, their domain often goes with other assets. These rarely show up in traditional domain markets.
The best deals come from sources with fewer competing buyers.
