"Why does my brand-new account get zero impressions?"
A tea-subscription founder messaged me in week 2: 14 pins live, 38 total impressions. He assumed he was shadowbanned.
He wasn't. His account was a sealed box — no profile keywords, unverified site, boards named "Stuff I Like" and "Inspo." Pinterest had no idea what he was about, so it showed his pins to no one.
He spent one afternoon: claimed his website, wrote a keyworded bio ("loose-leaf tea, tea rituals, cozy mornings"), renamed boards to actual search terms, added board descriptions.
Nothing else changed. Within 9 days impressions went from 38 to 2,300. By day 30, 11,000.
New accounts don't get suppressed — they get ignored until the algorithm can categorize them.
Takeaway: Before blaming reach, ask whether Pinterest can even tell what you're selling.
