SOP: Align sitemap URLs with canonicals
Mismatches make Google distrust both signals.

Step 1 — For each sitemap URL, fetch its rel=canonical.

Step 2 — ✅ The canonical equals the sitemap URL exactly — character for character.

Step 3 — Check the usual mismatch sources:
— ✅ Same protocol (no http in sitemap, https canonical)
— ✅ Same host (no www vs non-www split)
— ✅ Trailing slash consistent
— ✅ No tracking parameters in one but not the other

Step 4 — If a page canonicalizes elsewhere, REMOVE it from the sitemap and list the canonical target instead.

Step 5 — Re-crawl to confirm 100% self-canonical entries.

Definition of done: every sitemap URL is byte-identical to its own canonical tag, with no protocol/host/slash/parameter drift, proven by a full re-crawl.
