Across 310 audited backlink profiles (n=310), correlation with ranking movement was strongest not at mean DR but at the floor.
Profile shape that moved rankings:
— p25 DR: 28+
— median DR: 44
— p75 DR: 61
Profiles with the same mean DR (≈45) but a p25 of 9 moved rankings noticeably less. A long tail of DR 2-12 junk drags real signal, even when a few DR 80s pull the average up.
In words: a profile averaging 45 made of 30s and 60s outperforms one averaging 45 made of 5s and 85s.
