"Get early engagement from a pod to trigger the algorithm"
The received wisdom: a burst of likes in the first hour tricks TikTok into pushing you. Built on a half-true belief that early signals matter.
Why it's wrong: early signals matter as a ratio, not a count. Pod engagement comes from off-topic accounts whose own profiles don't match your content, so the embedding it generates is noise. Worse, it teaches the system your audience is "random marketers," mis-routing your next test batch. No clean test shows pods lift organic reach.
What's actually true: the system wants engagement from accounts that resemble the people it would show you to next. Pods poison that lookalike model.
Early engagement helps — but only from the right strangers.
