"Crack the formula and you'll go viral"
The lie sold hardest to beginners: viral is a repeatable recipe. People believe it because survivors get interviewed and write the formula backwards from the win.
Virality is a fat-tailed outcome — most of the variance is timing, the test-batch you happened to draw, and luck you can't control. The creators who "crack it" mostly raised their floor: every video now clears a quality bar, so they get more at-bats and occasionally one explodes.
What's true: you can't engineer a single viral hit. You can engineer a consistent base hit, then buy more lottery tickets by shipping.
