Case #041: The hours that were eating me alive

Case #041: The hours that were eating me alive

A pin-submit campaign hovered at 18% ROI — alive, barely. Most buyers at 18% either kill it or pour more money in hoping volume saves them. I pulled the clock instead. Here's the dayparting playbook that turned a flatline into profit.

— Pull conversions by hour, 7-day window: I exported every conversion stamped by hour. Two hours — 2am to 4am — held 22% of spend and 4% of conversions. Pure leak.

— Separate weekday from weekend: my offer's audience converted Sunday mornings at double the weekday rate. Lumping them together hid it.

— Find the dead zone AND the gold zone: not just what to cut — the 7-9pm window converted at 3x average. Underfunded by my flat budget.

— Cut, then re-allocate, don't just cut: I excluded the 2-4am dead zone and pushed that budget into the 7-9pm gold zone, same total spend.

— Re-check after 5 days: dayparting shifts as the audience pool changes. The dead zone moved an hour later by week two; I adjusted.

Same offer, same creatives, same total budget — just the money flowing into the right hours. The 18% campaign climbed to 47%. Over the full run: $2,260 spent, $3,320 back, 47% ROI. I added nothing. I just stopped paying for sleeping customers.

The lesson: a flat budget assumes every hour is equal, and no audience ever is — read the clock before you read the obituary.
