Segmentation done right removes customers on purpose, and that is the point
Segmentation is not slicing everyone into neat boxes. It is deciding whose problem you solve best and aiming there first.
A useful segment shares a trigger and a budget logic, not just an age or a job title. Two buyers can be the same age and want opposite things.
When a segment is too broad, the message goes generic, and generic converts poorly.
The flip side matters as well: a segment you serve poorly drains attention from the one you could own, so cutting a segment is often the growth move, not the timid one.
In short: a narrower segment with a sharper message usually beats a wide one with a vague pitch.
