Should I make people confirm before joining my list?
That extra confirmation step is called double opt-in: after someone signs up, you email them a link they must click to officially join. Single opt-in skips this and adds them right away.
It feels like you're losing people, and yes, a few won't click. But the ones who do are real, awake humans who actually want you.
— Step 1: In your email tool, find the signup form settings and look for "confirmed" or "double" opt-in.
— Step 2: ✅ Turn it on, then write a short confirmation email: "Tap here to start getting my emails."
— Step 3: Send yourself a test signup and click through the whole thing.
Why it matters: confirmed lists bounce less, complain less, and land in inboxes more often.
Homework: sign up to your own form and time how long confirmation takes.
