Your "toxicity score" measures something Google never built
The myth: a 78/100 toxicity rating means Google sees those links as dangerous.
Reality: Google has no public toxicity metric. None. The number on your dashboard is a vendor's proprietary blend of spam signals, referring-domain counts, and TLD guesses — reverse-engineered, not pulled from Search.
Actually, the scary part isn't the score. It's that two tools will rate the same link 12 and 91, because they're guessing differently. If the input were Google's actual judgment, they'd agree.
Vendors in the audit-software category profit from the gap between a red bar and your peace of mind. The redder the dashboard, the longer the engagement.
Reality check: a metric Google doesn't issue can't tell you what Google thinks.
