How I build a topical silo from one seed keyword

Early on I'd write random posts and call it a 'niche site.' Google saw noise. My breakthrough site grew from one seed — 'sourdough' — into a silo that ranked the pillar at #2. Here's the build.

— Take the seed, dump it into Google autocomplete A-Z, then 'People Also Ask', then AlsoAsked — harvest 80+ questions
— Group into 3 buckets: the pillar (sourdough starter guide), supporting how-tos (15 of them), and money pages (best banneton, best dutch oven)
— The pillar links DOWN to all 15 supporting posts; every supporting post links UP to the pillar and ACROSS to 2 siblings
— Money pages live inside the silo, fed by the how-tos that naturally mention gear
— Publish supporting posts FIRST over 6 weeks, then the pillar last as the capstone
— One silo per URL folder, never cross-link between unfinished silos

The completed silo ranked the pillar #2 and pulled 12 supporting posts into the top 10 with it — Google rewarded the density. Traffic 0 to 14k over 5 months.

The setback: I started a second silo before finishing the first, split my linking, and both stalled. Finish one, then start the next.

The takeaway: A niche site is a stack of finished silos, not a pile of posts. Build one airtight cluster before you touch the next seed.
