Promoting high-return products is quietly draining you
Learned this the hard way. Most networks claw back your commission when the buyer returns the item.
I was pushing cheap fast-fashion — looked great in the dashboard, then clawbacks gutted 30% of it at month-end.
Now I filter for low-return categories:
— consumables (people don't return supplements or coffee)
— digital + SaaS (basically zero returns)
— personalized/custom items (non-returnable)
Switched a page from trendy apparel to a consumable subscription and my kept commission jumped even though gross clicks fell.
Check your clawback rate per category this month. Chase what sticks, not what sells.
