Positioning is a promise you keep, not a slogan you print on the homepage
Teams often confuse positioning with a tagline. A tagline is words. Positioning is the single spot in a customer's head your brand owns when they have a problem to solve.
The test is blunt: finish the sentence for a buyer who needs X, we are the one that Y. If two rivals can copy your ending word for word, you have a slogan, not a position.
Sharp positioning also decides what you refuse to be. Trying to fit every segment usually means owning none of them.
There is a quieter cost too: a fuzzy position makes every downstream choice harder, from ad copy to pricing, because nobody agrees on what the product is really for.
Bottom line: pick the ground you can defend, then make every page prove it.
