My first site took 18 months to profit. My second took 4. Same effort.

My first niche site, on baby-sleep products, took 18 brutal months to clear $1,000/mo. Constant trial and error, rewrites, dead ends.

When I started my second site (on travel gear for families), I assumed it'd take the same grind. It hit $1,000/mo in four months. Same hours, a quarter of the time.

The difference wasn't luck or a better niche. It was that the first site secretly built a system. I now had a keyword-vetting checklist that killed bad ideas in an hour, a content template proven to convert, a fixed internal-linking pattern, and an outreach script for links that actually got replies.

Month 1 of site two: I applied all of it deliberately instead of fumbling.

Month 4: $1,100/mo.

The setback I won't hide: I almost didn't start a second site because the first felt so painful. I assumed the pain was the job, not the learning curve. I nearly quit the whole game right before it got easy.

The takeaway: your first niche site is tuition, and the lesson isn't the niche, it's the repeatable system you build by suffering through it. The real asset from site one isn't the income. It's that site two no longer takes 18 months. Don't quit at the moment you've finally learned how.
