<b>Your reply rate is lying to you</b>
Everyone says a high reply rate means your outreach is working.
Myth. "Not interested," "unsubscribe," and "who is this?" all count as replies. A 12% reply rate stuffed with annoyance reads great in a dashboard and closes nothing. You optimized for <i>any</i> response, so you got the cheap ones.
The metric that matters isn't reply rate, it's <i>positive</i> reply rate — and they often move in opposite directions. Aggressive subject lines spike one and tank the other. Track the deal, not the ding.
