<b>"Post at 6pm when your audience is online"</b>
The received wisdom: post when followers are active. Every analytics tab pushes a "best time" chart, so it feels like data.
Why it's wrong: that chart is built from your <i>existing</i> followers' activity — but organic reach on TikTok mostly comes from non-followers in the For You pool, who are online at totally different hours. You're optimizing for the wrong sample. Correlation isn't causation: top posters post often, and frequent posting correlates with good times by accident.
What's actually true: posting time mostly sets the speed of the first test batch, not its ceiling. A strong video finds its audience at 3am.
Post when your editing is sharp, not when a graph tells you.
