<b>Third-party add-ons: the part of the builder you don't control</b>
The builder is maintained by one team. The 12 add-ons extending it are maintained by twelve others.
— Each Elementor add-on pack (Essential, Happy, Premium) registers its own widgets and assets sitewide.
— A builder major-version bump can break an unmaintained add-on overnight; I've seen sites white-screen on update.
— Add-ons rarely lazy-load, so one used widget can enqueue the whole pack's CSS.
<b>Pros:</b> add-ons fill genuine gaps fast, no custom code.
<b>Cons:</b> update-chain fragility, asset bloat, abandonment risk, security surface.
<b>Best for:</b> keep add-on packs to one, vet its update history, and budget time to test the builder's major updates before applying.
