<b>'Best-time AI' is usually just recency-weighted averages</b>
Every scheduler sells a 'best time to post' badge. Most are the same math wearing different coats.
What they actually do
— Pull your last 30-90 days of engagement
— Bucket by hour and weekday
— Surface the top 3 slots, lightly weighting recent posts
That's not AI, it's a pivot table.
Where it breaks
✖ New accounts: no history, so it defaults to generic platform averages
✖ Low volume: under ~3 posts/week the sample is noise
✖ It optimizes for past behavior, never untested windows
Reality check: Sprout and Later both label this 'AI'. Buffer is honest and calls it 'analytics-based.'
Pick any of them if you post 5+ times weekly. Below that, ignore the badge and test manually.
