Pre-lander tracking — instrument the funnel, not just the end
If you only track the final conversion, you can't tell whether a dead campaign is a bad pre-lander or a bad offer. Instrument each step.
Events to track between click and conversion:
— Pre-lander view: fires the moment the bridge page loads (confirms the redirect landed)
— Pre-lander CTA click: fires when the user proceeds to the offer (your pre-lander's true output metric)
— Offer page reach: confirms the click survived the source-side redirect to the advertiser
— Final conversion: the payout event via S2S postback
How to wire it:
— Use your tracker's click-tracking link on the pre-lander CTA so the step is logged with the same click_id
— Carry the click_id through every step — a pre-lander that drops it orphans the conversion
— Build a funnel report: view → CTA → conversion, so you see the leak's location
Diagnosis: high views + low CTA = bad pre-lander. High CTA + low conversion = bad offer or offer-page mismatch.
