Internal-linking tools as indexing fixers: do they help?
Most 'won't index' cases on good sites are orphan/weak-link pages. I tested whether linking tools actually move the needle.
Contenders: Link Whisperer (WP, ~$77/yr), Ahrefs/Frog for orphan detection (find, don't fix).
What Link Whisper does well:
— Surfaces orphan pages and suggests contextual internal links fast
— Bulk-adds links, which genuinely helped 'Discovered - not indexed' pages get crawled in my test
Where it falls short:
— Auto-suggestions can over-link or pick weak anchors — needs human review
— Links from low-authority pages barely move crawl priority
— WP-bound; non-WP sites get the diagnosis tools only
Pros: directly attacks the real cause of discovery-stage stalls.
Cons: quality of links matters more than quantity; tool won't judge that.
Best for: content sites where good pages sit orphaned.
Not for: pages stuck at 'Crawled - not indexed' — that's quality, links won't save it.
