Three marketing strategies that fail because they skip the basics
Most campaigns collapse not from bad tactics, but from skipping obvious groundwork. Here's what kills them:
1. No clear metric before launch
You pick a channel, create ads, run them—then wonder what to measure. Pick one number first: CPA, ROAS, conversion count, or engagement rate. Everything else flows from that choice. Without it, you're flying blind and can't tell if the strategy even works.
2. Audience targeting stays too wide
Broad targeting feels safe. It's not. You end up paying for clicks from people who'll never convert. Narrow your audience by behavior, purchase history, or intent signals. Yes, you get fewer impressions. You also get lower costs and higher returns. The math works.
3. Creative gets one test, then locked in
You launch an ad, it performs okay, so you run it for weeks. One creative is never enough. Test headlines, hooks, visuals, angles. Kill what underperforms. Scale what works. Rotation prevents decay and catches better performers you missed on round one.
The fix is simple: pick your success metric, tighten who sees your ads, and test creative ruthlessly. These three alone will cut wasted spend and improve your results across any platform or product.
