The triage order for a Search Console 'invalid items' spike
When the enhancement report lights up red overnight, the instinct is to fix the loudest error first. Wrong move. Sources in the SERPs say to triage by blast radius. Run this order:
— Sort errors by affected-URL count, descending — one template bug masquerades as thousands of page errors
— Click into the top error, hit 'Validate Fix' only AFTER you've deployed, never before
— Separate 'error' (kills the result) from 'warning' (recommended-field gap) — fix errors first
— Check the example URLs' rendered HTML, since the report lags real-time by days
— Use the date filter to pin when it started — that timestamp points at your deploy
What it means for you: the report's lag means a 'fix' you validate too early resets the clock and delays recovery. Watch this — validate only once the change is live and recrawlable, or you'll loop for weeks.
