Got a link burst and panicked? STOP disavowing
A client got 400 links in a week from a scraper and his agency nuked half of them. Idiotic. Run this checklist before you touch the disavow file:
— Are the links toxic, or just sudden? Sudden is not a crime.
— Did rankings actually drop, or did traffic dip for unrelated reasons? Check the dates.
— Are they nofollow/UGC junk? Then Google already ignores them. Do nothing.
— Real spam attack with anchor-stuffing? Only THEN disavow domains, never URLs.
Most "velocity recoveries" are people recovering from their own overreaction. The burst didn't hurt you. Your fear did.
