Build a content silo from a blank folder
Client had 40 blog posts dumped in /blog/ with no structure. Built a silo in a day:
— Group posts by topic cluster — credit cards, loans, savings, whatever
— Pick one pillar page per cluster (the broad money term)
— Move supporting posts under it: /credit-cards/best-rewards/
— Pillar links DOWN to every child, every child links UP to pillar
— Cross-link siblings only when genuinely related — don't force a mesh
— 301 the old flat URLs, update internal links to the new paths
The pillar jumped two pages in five weeks once link equity stopped leaking sideways.
Do the redirects in the same deploy as the link updates — don't leave dangling old paths for a week.
