Why market analysis fails when you skip the boring part

Why market analysis fails when you skip the boring part

Most arbitrageurs analyze markets like tourists: they spot the shiny metric and call it done. Then the campaign tanks. The gap isn't between good and bad analysis—it's between surface-level and structural.

Real market analysis has three layers:

• Baseline metrics. CPC, CR, ROAS ranges for your vertical. Not to copy blindly, but to know what "normal" looks like. If your data sits 40% below baseline, that's signal, not luck.

• Seasonal and cyclical patterns. Certain niches heat up predictably—back-to-school, holiday season, tax filing periods. Understanding the rhythm helps you spot anomalies that matter versus noise.

• Competitive density. How many players are chasing the same audience? High saturation means tighter margins and faster creative decay. Low saturation can signal either opportunity or a dead vertical.

Skip one layer and you're flying blind. Most people skip layer two and three, then wonder why their profitable test dies in week three.

The mistake is treating analysis as a one-time checkpoint before launch. It's not. Run it before you go live, then revisit it monthly. Markets shift. Competitors adjust. A profitable niche becomes crowded. What worked three months ago might require different positioning now.
