How to spot an affiliate program migration before your links and commissions stop working
When a program is acquired, the brand may stay the same while the tracking, terms, payment process, and support team change. Treat every ownership change as a technical migration, not a routine announcement.
Check for these signals:
- New domain, dashboard, contact email, or tracking parameters
- Updated terms, commission rules, cookie window, or payout threshold
- Missing transactions, delayed approvals, or unusual reversals
- Requests to recreate links or move your account
Keep a simple migration log with the old and new URLs, link formats, commission rules, payment details, and contact history. Test a small set of links across your main content types. Confirm redirects, sub IDs, deep links, mobile behavior, and conversion reporting before replacing everything.
Do not remove the old implementation immediately. Keep a documented backup, compare reporting during the transition, and mark every link that needs review. If support cannot confirm ownership, tracking, or payment terms clearly, pause new traffic and prepare an alternative program.
A migration is complete only when clicks, conversions, commissions, and payouts reconcile across the new setup.
