The channel that looked worthless and funded everything
A DTC brand nearly cut its entire content budget. Last-click attribution showed organic blog posts driving just 4% of sales, while paid search took the credit for 40%.
The clue surfaced when we opened the conversion paths report instead of the channel summary. Those "worthless" blog posts appeared in 38% of converting journeys — as the first touch, days before the branded paid-search click that closed the sale.
Last-click was handing all the credit to the final step and starving the channel that started the relationship.
We kept content funded and used data-driven attribution as a sanity check. When we paused two blog clusters as a test, branded paid-search volume — and its conversions — dropped 22% within three weeks.

Lesson: last-click flatters the closer and erases the opener. Read full paths before you defund a channel that only ever assists.
