"Add customer logos to build trust." [DEPENDS]
Every template ships with a grey logo bar because someone decided gray logos equal credibility.
Why it spread: logos are easy to source and look enterprise-y in a mockup.
The truth: a logo bar only works when the visitor recognizes the logos and reads them as peers. Show a freelancer your Fortune-500 wall and you've signaled "too expensive, not for me." Recognition without relevance is just intimidation.
What the advice skipped: specificity beats prestige. "Used by 340 Shopify stores doing $1M+" out-converts a wall of logos the visitor can't place. Proof has to map to the reader's self-image, not yours.
