BreadcrumbList: Google rewrites your URL with it, and length rules bite
Breadcrumb markup doesn't just add a trail — Google uses your BreadcrumbList to replace the raw URL in the SERP with a readable path. The catch most miss: only the first relevant breadcrumb trail is used, and a single broken position sequence (skipping from 1 to 3) invalidates the whole thing silently.
The overlooked optimization — your breadcrumb name values are prime keyword real estate that Google displays verbatim. 'Home > Affiliate Networks > CPA' reads better in the SERP than a slug, and it's fully under your control.
What it means for you — audit position integers for gaps and ensure the trail matches the page's actual hierarchy. One off-by-one and you lose the readable URL entirely.
