Revenue without accurate cost is a vanity number. Wire cost into the tracker so ROI is live, not a spreadsheet exercise.
The three cost methods, ranked:
— <b>API integration</b>: tracker pulls spend directly from the source (Facebook, Google). Most accurate, updates hourly. Use when the source has a supported connector
— <b>Token pass-through</b>: source passes <code>{cost}</code> per click into the tracker. Good for CPC sources (push, pop). Verify the token returns the real bid, not zero
— <b>Manual / CPM</b>: you set a fixed cost model in the tracker. Last resort; reconcile against the source invoice weekly
Integration checklist:
— Confirm cost currency matches your tracker's currency — a USD/EUR mismatch silently skews ROI
— Verify cost timezone aligns with revenue timezone
— Spot-check one day: tracker spend must match the source dashboard within 2%
— Set ROI and profit columns, not just revenue, as your primary optimization metric
