Audit your entity footprint in one afternoon: a simple checklist
Start with the basics: search your brand, product names, and key people in Google. Note every result type: site pages, profiles, directories, images, maps, and knowledge panels. If the same entity appears under different names, spellings, or categories, that is your first cleanup task.
Next, compare your site with outside references. Check whether your About page, contact details, logo, founders, and primary topics match what major profiles say. Look for missing links between entities: no sameAs signals, weak author pages, vague organization data, or product pages that never connect back to the parent brand.
Then audit consistency across the web:
— name, address, phone, and domain
— logo, tagline, and short description
— social handles, founder names, and company category
— product naming, URLs, and internal links
If one field changes from place to place, search engines have to guess. Guessing is bad for entity clarity.
Finish by listing the gaps in three buckets: fix on-site data, update off-site profiles, and create missing supporting pages. A clean entity footprint is not about being everywhere; it is about making the same identity easy to verify across the places that matter.
